The China-ASEAN Expo, sponsored by Premier Wen Jiabao of China and co-sponsored by the economic and trade authorities of China and 10 ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretariat, is a national and international trade and economic exchange event hosted by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Government and is held annually in Nanning, Guangxi. With the purpose of "promoting the construction of China-ASEAN free trade area, sharing cooperation and development opportunities," the Expo covers three major components: trade in goods, investment cooperation and trade in services. It is a new platform for expanding trade and economic cooperation between China and ASEAN.
Since 2004, China-ASEAN Expo has been successfully held for six sessions with a total of 210,000 merchants and more than 100 chambers of commerce participating. The 6th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit was successfully held in the same period. With the theme of "China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and Prospects for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and ASEAN," the Seventh Business and Investment Summit will discuss and look forward to the prospects, opportunities and challenges of regional economic and trade cooperation after the completion of the Free Trade Area.
China-ASEAN Expo is currently the only exhibition in China held jointly by many governments and held in one place for a long time. Relying on the vast market and facilitation policies of the China-ASEAN free trade area, the China-ASEAN Expo has been widely praised by the 11 political and business circles in the country and has gradually become a platform for boosting the trade and investment cooperation between China and the ASEAN. With a total area of 4.48 million square kilometers and a population of 543 million, the total GDP of the ASEAN is over 800 billion U.S. dollars, the total foreign trade volume is 1,036.2 billion U.S. dollars and the foreign exchange reserves is 300.8 billion U.S. dollars. For Chinese enterprises, the ASEAN market is vast and contains unlimited business opportunities.
Reporters learned from the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat that this year Taiwanese companies are highly motivated to attend and sign up for the exhibition. The number of booths is expected to exceed 100. At the 6th Expo last year, more than 400 Taiwanese exhibitors from 16 delegations and groups in Taiwan participated in the fair, becoming the most exhibitors in Taiwan over the years. Through the Expo, more and more Taiwan enterprises have learned the latest information from the Mainland and ASEAN and further deepened their economic and trade cooperation with the Mainland and ASEAN countries.
At the same time, China-ASEAN Expo centered on exhibitions and carried out multi-level and multi-level exchange activities and set up a platform for exchange and cooperation between China and ASEAN.
In 2005, China-ASEAN Expo was named one of China's Top Ten Famous Brands Exhibitions. The secretariat of China-ASEAN Expo, a permanent organization of the Expo, won the special contribution award of China's exhibition industry.
In 2006, China-ASEAN Expo won the title of "China's Top Ten Most Influential Government-led Exhibitions in 2006".
In 2007, China-ASEAN Expo won the title of "China's Top Ten Most Influential National Brand Exhibitions in 2007".
In 2008, China-ASEAN Expo was named "2008 Top Ten Exhibitions" at the 6th China MICE Forum.
As the new grand event to be held after the completion of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, the Seventh China-ASEAN Expo and the Business and Investment Summit have drawn great attention from the news media in both China and foreign countries. A total of 49 Chinese and foreign media 81 journalists attended the press conference, including 6 foreign media and 8 media from Hong Kong, Maucao and Taiwan.
The fair has five major topics: trade in goods, investment cooperation, service trade, advanced technology and "City of Charm". The special exhibition of service trade will become the new highlight of this expo.
